A single point of monthly churn can swing lifetime value by thousands across the book — retention is the quiet multiplier.

[ 01 ]HOW IT'S CALCULATEDMETHOD

The math, in plain terms.

Monthly recurring revenue is active members times per-member monthly value (membership price plus average add-on spend). Annualized, that's your recurring base before any new marketing.

Average member lifetime is roughly one divided by monthly churn — a 4% monthly churn implies about a 25-month average tenure. Lower churn dramatically extends lifetime, which is why retention beats acquisition on a per-dollar basis.

Lifetime value multiplies per-member monthly value by average lifetime and by gross margin. It's the ceiling on what a member is worth — and the reason no-show recovery, renewals, and consistent follow-up move the number more than any single promotion.

[ 02 ]FIELD MANUALFAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I calculate member lifetime value?

Multiply per-member monthly revenue by average lifetime (about one divided by monthly churn) and by gross margin. This tool does it live as you adjust churn and price.

Why does churn matter so much?

Lifetime scales inversely with churn, so small reductions compound. Halving churn roughly doubles average tenure and lifetime value — usually cheaper than acquiring the equivalent new members.

Is this clinical or financial advice?
